Marstrand

A must-visit island for sea views, walks and great food.

A Seaside Gem of Sweden

Marstrand is one of the best-known destinations on the Swedish West Coast, famous for sailing, swimming, seafood and its car-free island streets.

The island combines dramatic coastal scenery with a long history, from Carlsten Fortress to the busy harbour and old wooden buildings. It is an easy place to spend anything from a few hours to a full day.

Come for the sea views, the walks around the island, a swim from the rocks or a relaxed meal by the waterfront.

Getting to Marstrand

Marstrand is reached by a short passenger ferry from Koön on the mainland. After parking, walk to the ferry terminal and cross over to the island in just a few minutes.

The ferry runs regularly throughout the day, making it easy to visit without much planning.
